Referrer
The Cleafs tracker looks at refferer so the real tracking occurs on the website of the merchant. The Cleafs tracker checks if there is an approved relationship with the publisher. If this is the case, a unique cookie will be made at the visitor's and a click registered under reports. If not, all of the data will destroyed. Other networks often use referring techniques such as 301 / 302
The publisher may also choose to use an ID tracker that does not work with referrer. The publisher always has the opportunity to choose (for example with newsletters and clickout pages).
